The Emmys come only but once a year. And this year's looks to be more diverse than ever, comedy wise that is. The usual suspects like Veep are there but then newcomers like Samantha Bee and Pamela Aldon join the fun. The Emmys air on Sunday, September 17th at 8 PM. Stephen Colbert will host so we know who's not winning his award...(jk I don't know).
'Late Night with Seth Meyers' is now a podcast kind of
Hey late night fans (and Late Night fans), one of the talk shows is turning into a podcast! NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers can now be enjoyed in bite-sized podcast form. As found by Splitsider, the podcast takes segments like "A Closer Look" -- where the host dedicates an extended period of time to a topic -- and "Jokes Seth Can't Tell" -- where Amber Ruffin and Jenny Hagel say things Seth can't -- and turns them into audio form! New "episodes" will be posted Tuesday through Friday. Podcasts are becoming bigger as the medium explodes with new shows every week. We even dedicated an episode of News Time to it! Check out the iTunes listing here and Android users can head to the podcasting app of their choice.
TBS wants Samantha Bee for at least a year and Michelle Wolf is your next Daily Show contributor
Today turned out to be a great day for women in late night as two of the funniest in the business managed to use their comedy chops to high profile jobs. First, it was announced that Samantha Bee's late night series, Full Frontal, was renewed through 2016. A TBS press release stated that the series would have 26 more episodes on top of the thirteen it is already producing. If that doesn't sound so cool, look at John Oliver's Last Week Tonight today which was in a similar situation with HBO last year.
On top of that, Late Night with Seth Meyers writer Michelle Wolf is headed to The Daily Show. Joining Jessica Williams, Jordan Klepper, and a bunch of other funny people, Williams is set to be both a writer and on air contributor. Late night was once a barren wasteland to the female gender but this is a nice leap by today's standards. Let those lady ball hang low, girls!

That means not only is the show coming back for a second season but it also has a third season to deal with. On top of that, the comedian dropped some big names of the show's guest stars including John Slattery, Paula Pell, Kack Black, and Helen Mirren. Documentary Now! premieres August 20 on IFC but you can watch their VICE parody DRONEZ right now.

Ex-SNL writer, ex-Daily Show correspondent, and current SNL Weekend Update co-anchor Michael Che appeared on Late Night to talk about his new gig. Meyers and Che also talked about his summer job at the Daily Show. And who can forget the gem that is the sketch "12 Days Not A Slave," something that the two men penned on SNL.
