The Emmys come only but once a year. And this year's looks to be more diverse than ever, comedy wise that is. The usual suspects like Veep are there but then newcomers like Samantha Bee and Pamela Aldon join the fun. The Emmys air on Sunday, September 17th at 8 PM. Stephen Colbert will host so we know who's not winning his award...(jk I don't know).
Andy Richter is hosting a Jimmy Kimmel game show on ABC
It's like the convergence of two different late night TV shows. Andy Richter is hosting a Jimmy Kimmel game show that's based on a bit from the latter host's show. Dubbed Big Fan, the Hollywood Reporter says the six episode weekly series comes from the apparently popular -- although I was hard pressed to find more than the one video of it -- game on Jimmy Kimmel Live called "Who knows...?" in which a celebrity is matched against a fan to answer trivia questions. But ABC doesn't care about establishing new IPs; they want to get into that sweet, sweet late night show sketch turned game show game. This comes after Spike and Jimmy Fallon's Lip Sync Battle became a ratings vacuum and the very same network picked up Caraoke Showdown, a series with similar premise to that thing James Cordon does. Kimmel is, of course, set to executive produce the series.
Bob Odenkirk thinks ahead, brings own interview questions to Kimmel
Bob Odenkirk is a smart man as evidenced by his comedy. Naturally, a smart person wants the right questions asked instead of pandering around with inane small talk. During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, Odenkirk gave his own pre-prepared Emmy questions to the only host he thought could handle the job. He also reveals the Mr. Show spiritual successor on Netflix, With Bob and David, is slated to premiere this fall.
'Friends' Fan Fiction Acted Out By Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, and Lisa Kudrow
Jimmy Kimmel Live may be trailing behind the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon on the internet video views but Kimmel is working his way back by writing fan fiction. On last night's Live, the host informed Aniston that he had some faction that he would love for her to act out with him. Kimmel took the reign as Ross while Aniston, Cox, and Kudrow reprised their roles on a replica of the famous apartment from the series.
