TBS renews most of its shows, sets premiere for "The Last OG" again

TBS may not have a lot of original shows but the ones it does have, it treats well enough. That reigns true for Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and American Dad, both of which received two season renewals Deadline reports. This will mark their third and fourth and thirteenth and fourteenth seasons respectively.

Speaking of American Dad, it's going to be paired with Olan Rogers's Final Space for the network's first animation block. American Dad's twelfth seasons begins on February 12 at 10 PM while Final Space begins on February 26 at 10:30 PM.

Also renewed are Snoop Dogg Presents The Joker’s Wild and Drop The Mic for their second seasons. These two mark the only nonscripted shows on the network. They've been doing well online and digital so TBS loves the idea of more.

And finally, Jordan Peele's Tracy Morgan starrer The Last O.G. is finally going to air this April third at 10:30 PM.

Jo Miller out as "Full Frontal" showrunner, head writer

Jo Miller -- one of the reasons Full Frontal made it to television -- is leaving the TBS late night show. 

Variety reports Miller left the show under her own volition. However, Splitsider writes (via Deadline and The Wrap) that there may have been disagreements between the host and the producer. TBS released a statement in regards to Miller's exit: “Jo is an incredibly talented writer who has played an invaluable role in the creation and success of the Full Frontal with Samantha Bee franchise over the past two years. We are grateful for her contributions and wish her continued success.”

Miller joined Full Frontal host Samantha Bee when the pair left The Daily Show around the same time as each other. Miller's positions included showrunner, head writer and executive producer.

Here are the 2017 comedy Emmy nominations

The Emmys come only but once a year. And this year's looks to be more diverse than ever, comedy wise that is. The usual suspects like Veep are there but then newcomers like Samantha Bee and Pamela Aldon join the fun. The Emmys air on Sunday, September 17th at 8 PM. Stephen Colbert will host so we know who's not winning his award...(jk I don't know).

TBS wants Samantha Bee for at least a year and Michelle Wolf is your next Daily Show contributor

Today turned out to be a great day for women in late night as two of the funniest in the business managed to use their comedy chops to high profile jobs. First, it was announced that Samantha Bee's late night series, Full Frontal, was renewed through 2016. A TBS press release stated that the series would have 26 more episodes on top of the thirteen it is already producing. If that doesn't sound so cool, look at John Oliver's Last Week Tonight today which was in a similar situation with HBO last year.

On top of that, Late Night with Seth Meyers writer Michelle Wolf is headed to The Daily Show. Joining Jessica Williams, Jordan Klepper, and a bunch of other funny people, Williams is set to be both a writer and on air contributor. Late night was once a barren wasteland to the female gender but this is a nice leap by today's standards. Let those lady ball hang low, girls!

Samantah Bee wants 'Full Frontal' to be more in the field, less with the guests

Stunt guests and lame ones both periodically pop up in today's late night landscape. In fact, Hilary "Hildawg" Clinton is set to make her umpteenth appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. She's already appeared on Late Night, The Late Show and probably everyone else's; a trait that both she and Donald Trump share.  

Samantha Bee aims to change all of that with her new talk show on TBS, Full Frontal. Speaking at the Television Critic's Association this week with The Hollywood Reporter, the host and her showrunner, Jo Miller, stated that Bee will not be static: "She's not going to be a lady behind a desk. She's going to move around ... and we're not having guests, so we can have this lovely third act where we can do whatever we want."

Bee added on to that sentiment saying that Full Frontal is poised to have more field pieces than desk bits saying that that's the kind of work she's passionate about. The ultimate goal is to evolve the medium as a whole by changing up styles. Bee also said she loves the personal aspect of talking to people: "It's kind of the best part of the job. I learn something from every person I talk to." Full Frontal debuts on TBS on February 8
