The Emmys come only but once a year. And this year's looks to be more diverse than ever, comedy wise that is. The usual suspects like Veep are there but then newcomers like Samantha Bee and Pamela Aldon join the fun. The Emmys air on Sunday, September 17th at 8 PM. Stephen Colbert will host so we know who's not winning his award...(jk I don't know).
Upright Citizens Brigade founders to reunite at Carnegie Hall next year
Fans of improv and alternative comedy are in f or a treat. The founding members of the Upright Citizens Brigade are coming together for a new sketch showcase at Carnegie Hall. The performance is a part of the 20th annual Del Close Marathon where comedy fans celebrate the work of the festival's titular man.

For now, fans of UCB can check out the Seeso series The UCB Show for a look at a new crop of comedy groups. You can also check out the documentary about Del Close that came out last year.
Pray that 'Veep' comes back faster in this trailer for the new season
The best comedy on television right now returns to HBO's airwaves on Sunday April 24. If you haven't seen Veep, then you're doing TV wrong. HBO released a trailer for the upcoming season and it does not provide enough Julia Louis Dreyfus, Anna Chlumsky, Gary Cole, Matt Walsh, Sam Richardson -- let's just say it doesn't provide enough of anyone. But how could it cover such an all star cast in a short amount of time? Check out the trailer and watch only reruns of Veep to prepare for the premiere.

Matt Walsh, Timothy Simons to hit the field as 'Red Shirts' in football comedy
Between Veep and A Better You (not to mention the hit Hollywood film Into The Storm), Matt Walsh is super busy. Now, the comedian is teaming up with his Veep costar Timothy Simons in order to make a comedy film about football. The movie is titled Red Shirts and it's being produced by Ben Stiller's Red Hour Films. That's all we know as of now as Variety reports the log line is being kept under lock and key. For now though, we can speculate as to what the plot will be about. Red shirting is an age old college football move for teams to maintain a certain player's eligibility. Perhaps the idea will follow Simons as he repeatedly gets red shirted by his coach, played by Walsh, and they have it out. Whatever the story is, I'm sure it'll be funny. That's how comedies work after all.
