With Veep ending next season, HBO is in need of another comedy hit. They decided to find said hit in Veep creator Armando Iannucci. This time, the duo is going to space. Deadline reports that HBO has greenlighted a pilot from the venerable creator called Avenue 5. Moreover, the network has also purchased several backup scripts for the show too. The series takes place in space and the future, with a rumor that the show will mainly be set on a spaceship. The pilot will shoot in London sometime in 2018.
Here are the 2017 comedy Emmy nominations
The Emmys come only but once a year. And this year's looks to be more diverse than ever, comedy wise that is. The usual suspects like Veep are there but then newcomers like Samantha Bee and Pamela Aldon join the fun. The Emmys air on Sunday, September 17th at 8 PM. Stephen Colbert will host so we know who's not winning his award...(jk I don't know).
SXSW gets a bigger comedy slate, podcasts galore
South By Southwest is almost upon us and its keynotes are going to be tremendous this year. Three weeks ago, the festival announced that the cast of Veep, Bob Odenkirk and Seth Rogen were among some of the speakers. They made good on their promise to announce more. Now funny people like Janeane Garofalo, Wyatt Cenac, and Michael Ian Black are joining the fracas. Additionally, all the podcasts like Comedy Bang! Bang!, improv4humans, and Hollywood Handbook will be there. The full line up can be found below and other details can be seen on the SXSW website.
Pray that 'Veep' comes back faster in this trailer for the new season
The best comedy on television right now returns to HBO's airwaves on Sunday April 24. If you haven't seen Veep, then you're doing TV wrong. HBO released a trailer for the upcoming season and it does not provide enough Julia Louis Dreyfus, Anna Chlumsky, Gary Cole, Matt Walsh, Sam Richardson -- let's just say it doesn't provide enough of anyone. But how could it cover such an all star cast in a short amount of time? Check out the trailer and watch only reruns of Veep to prepare for the premiere.
