The Emmys come only but once a year. And this year's looks to be more diverse than ever, comedy wise that is. The usual suspects like Veep are there but then newcomers like Samantha Bee and Pamela Aldon join the fun. The Emmys air on Sunday, September 17th at 8 PM. Stephen Colbert will host so we know who's not winning his award...(jk I don't know).
IFC wants more 'Documentary Now' and also 7 other shows
Jesus. For a network that doesn't get ABC or CBS amount of views, IFC sure is ambitious when it comes to ordering shows. IFC announced today that it is developing seven new shows. Both Steven Weber and Bryan Cranston are developing separate shows and the others come from lesser known people. Not all of these shows will make it to pilot but it's great that they're doing this to add to the robust slate of Comedy Bang! Bang! (the show) and Maron. As for Documentary Now, it's getting its own lucky seven in terms of episodes and three of them are already planned. Check out the list below:
Bill Hader, Seth Meyers discuss IFC's 'Documentary Now!' and its double season renewal on 'Late Night'
Documentary Now! hasn't even aired yet and IFC has awarded the mockumentary series with a double season renewal. Last night on Late Night, Now! creator Bill Hader mentioned it during his interview with Seth Meyers. That means not only is the show coming back for a second season but it also has a third season to deal with. On top of that, the comedian dropped some big names of the show's guest stars including John Slattery, Paula Pell, Kack Black, and Helen Mirren. Documentary Now! premieres August 20 on IFC but you can watch their VICE parody DRONEZ right now.
