If William H. Macy was tapped to star in a show two decades ago, no one would've believed it to last longer than a few seasons. Now, the veteran film actor is one of television's most respected TV actors. As such, the show he is currently working on will continue as one of Showtime's longest running series.
Deadline reports Shameless is coming back for a ninth season in 2018.
Showtime Networks president and CEO David Nevins notes that the show doesn't have the biggest following but it has a consistently growing one: "The series’ reputation for rich and resonant characters and for deep – and deeply twisted – comedy has drawn not only faithful longtime viewers, but a steadily growing audience."
As of this writing, the entire cast including Emmy Rossum is set to come back.
