What were Amazon and Tig Notaro thinking when they didn't name One Mississippi with the obvious name Two Mississippi? Marketing probably. Anyway, EW posted a trailer for the second season, which is slated to air next week. Tig is up to her regular shenanigans as she continues to hang out with her step-father, attempts to woo a straight woman and runs her radio show. Juan Mississippi returns to Amazon Prime on Friday, September 8.

Here are the 2017 Grammy Nominations for comedy
It's been a stand up year for comedy and the Grammys surely had a hard time picking out the best of the best. Dozens of specials and albums released but only a select few made it to the top. Amy Schumer was nominated for the audiobook version of The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo. Patton Oswalt was nominated because he's Patton Oswalt. And Carol Burnett was recognized for In Such Good Company: Eleven Years Of Laughter, Mayhem, And Fun In the Sandbox. James Corden takes the reigns of the Grammy Awards on February 12th on CBS. The comedy noms are below.
Tig Notaro's 'One Mississippi' will soon become two Mississippi
Fans of mumblecore comedian Tig Notaro and producer Diablo Cody will be happy to see that their Amazon series One Mississippi has been renewed. Set to premiere in 2017, the second season will continue to chronicle Notaro's coping with he mother's death as well as current illnesses. Deadline reports that Joe Lewis, Head of Comedy and Drama, said Amazon Studios is excited for the renewal: "Making a show as comic and tragic as One Mississippi is a risk. Pulling it off with such intelligence and nuance is rare." Fans of Notaro can follow Notaro's Twitter account that she actually doesn't run. Instead, it is taken over by a different comedian every single day.
Amazon bolsters its comedy offerings, new shows coming this fall
Amazon may not be the preferred streaming option for most people, but it sure does have the exclusives to back up its business. It's offerings include lauded dramas like The Man In The High Castle, Mozart In The Jungle, and Bosch but its comedies are just as well received. Head of Half Hour Programming for Amazon Joe Lewis said that the company is launching four comedy series (both new and old) in September to make it "comedy month" during the summer TCAs yesterday.
September will see the premiere of Tig Notaro's One Mississippi on the 9th as well as Woody Allen's Crisis in Six Scenes on the 30th. The former stars Notaro and follows her career after her mother passed away and the comedian was struck with a myriad of diseases. The latter series stars Allen, Miley Cyrus and Elaine May in a six episode show about a family in the 60's as they're visited by a a guest who changes their world. Comedy month will also have the premiere of Fleabag from Phoebe Waller-Bridge on the 16th and the less funny, more sad Transparent season three on the 23rd. There is still no word on the remake of The Tick.
Amazon also announced the fate of the John Goodman led Alpha House. The series had two seasons before going off the internet airwaves in 2014. It's been in limbo since then but Amazon Studio chief Roy Price announced during Amazon's TCA conference that the show is "not a current show," citing that current political climates may affect whether or not the show comes back. Price told the press that he likes to leave his options open.
