It's been a stand up year for comedy and the Grammys surely had a hard time picking out the best of the best. Dozens of specials and albums released but only a select few made it to the top. Amy Schumer was nominated for the audiobook version of The Girl With The Lower Back Tattoo. Patton Oswalt was nominated because he's Patton Oswalt. And Carol Burnett was recognized for In Such Good Company: Eleven Years Of Laughter, Mayhem, And Fun In the Sandbox. James Corden takes the reigns of the Grammy Awards on February 12th on CBS. Jimmy Kimmel will host those Academy Awards in 2017
We are in the throes of awards season with somber hit after hit are let loose on our critical world. While a Pitt led or Affleck starring drama is to be had, there has to be a host to facilitate the long outstanding tradition of the Academy Awards. Now, Variety has learned, Jimmy Kimmel will be that host. The late night guru has done all in terms of awards hosting. He's tackled the 2007 ESPYS, 2012 and 2016 Emmys, and America's own American Music Awards five whole times. Can Kimmel handle the limelight of the Oscars as well as his other hosty friends? Find out when the 89th Academy Awards take over on Sunday, February 26.
Keegan-Michael Key will bring some character to the Gotham Awards
Loveable character actor and character comedian Keegan-Michael Key is set to host the 2016 IFP Gotham Awards. The Wrap reports that the ceremony will take place on November 28 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. Executive director of IFP Joana Vicente said the organization is excited to have Key host the show: "His unique presence and brand of humor will be a perfect addition to what we expect will be a lively and exciting show.” Key previosuly hosted the 2016 Peabody Awards back in May and a couple of episodes of LIVE with Kelly if that counts for anything.
Bill Murray is receiving that Mark Twain Prize
When he’s not stealing french fries or crashing weddings, Bill Murray is really a nice guy. Now, Vulture reports that the long working comedian is finally getting his due. Murray is getting PBS’ most prestigious prize for American Humor: the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. The 19th annual version of the celebration will be held at the Kennedy Center on October 23 with later dates for air. Other lucky comedians who’ve earned the prize include Eddie Murphy, Jay Leno, George Carlin, and Tina Fey.

The Writer's Guild Awards were last this past weekend and you might've missed them because guild stuff doesn't matter to you. Looks like you have a life. Good for you.
