ABC renews "The Gong Show" and Mike Myers pretends none of us knew he was hosting it

The Gong Show made its comeback and ABC wants more.

The variety series's revival scored well enough to warrant a second season. The Will Arnett-produced show will go back into production sometime this year says The Wrap. Oh and Mike Myers is the host, Tommy Maitland, playing a character. Think Jim Carrey in Man on the Moon and Subsequently Jim and Andy.

Said Mike Myers on the "reveal:" “Being the host of ‘The Gong Show’ is a blast! Pure fun...It is with great delight that I can finally admit that there is indeed a Tommy Maitland, and that I portray him.”

This new version of The Gong Show was ordered back in October 2016 and aired in mid-2017.

ABC, Will Arnett are doing a current version of 'The Gong Show'

If you thought that ABC ran out of game shows to reboot, you'd be wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong. The network is bringing back The Gong Show for ten episodes with Will Arnett reports Deadline. But the actor is only taking over producing via his production company, Electric Avenue Productions, not hosting which is a shame. And this version will also feature a studio audience. If the new Match Game, To Tell The Truth and $100,000 Pyramid are any indication, this new The Gong Show should be just as good. Check out an episode of the original Gong Show below.

'The Lego Batman Movie' trailer proves that the movie can't come out soon enough

I love superheroes. And I love superhero movies (even the trash like the Amazing Spiderman movies and Avengers). And I really like LEGO. Those worlds collided with many others in the fantastic film The LEGO Movie. Now, one of its stars is getting his own movie. Will Arnett stars as the titular LEGO Batman -- making him the 20th-ish person to play or voice the caped crusader. The trailer was released today alongside several pictures from earlier this week. It features a Batman that can beatbox, eat lobster and save the world. The film itself also features a robust cast with Ralph Fiennes as Alfred, Michael Cera as Robin, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, and Zach Galifianakis as the Joker. What The LEGO Batman Movie aims to answer that no other movie has even tried is can Batman be happy? We'll have to find out when the movie comes out February 10, 2017.

Will Arnett is headed back to sitcom land, doesn't give a hoot about the past

"I fear no ratings board!" said Will Arnett as he looked into his photo journal containing all of his failed sitcoms. Let it be known that the comedienne and LEGO Batman actor is creating yet another network sitcom. Deadline is reporting that he has teamed up with Tom Hertz (Rules of Engagement) for a series on CBS. The two will work as co-producers for a workplace comedy taking place in a high school. No other news has come forth but this should be promising for Arnett. Hertz's Rules of Engagement defied the odds and lasted for an impressive seven seasons so perhaps some of that magic can rub off on Arnett who will probably just be behind the camera this time.

'Bojack Horseman' returns to Netflix in July

The sultry sounds of Will Arnett's voice will return to Netflix super soon. The streaming service announced the second season of Bojack Horseman is coming back with 12 episodes on July 17. Netflix was even gracious enough to include a a description of events in a press release: 

“Will Arnett voices BoJack, the legendary 90’s sitcom star, who has been trying to find his way through a muddle of self-loathing, whisky and failed relationships. Now starring in his dream movie (a biopic of Secretariat), but humbled by the events of last season, BoJack attempts to use his career second wind as a stepladder to a springboard to becoming a newer, better BoJack. But new challenges on set and in his personal life, and the demons of his past make it difficult to shake off the skin of his previous self. If season one of BoJack Horseman is about a character learning he needs to change, the new season is about whether or not he can. It’s a character in a rut, trying to pull out of that rut, and the rut pulling back.

Also, there are lots of surprise guest stars and funny talking animal jokes.”
