Hannibal Buress, Patton Oswalt lead new Netflix standup specials

If you thought Netflix was easing up on the comedy specials, then get your head checked dummy. The big read streaming service has announced its first slate of standup specials for the first quarter of the year. Hannibal Buress, Patton Oswalt, Jimmy Carr and Theo Von all have new hour plus specials headed to your TV screen (or laptop or kindle; wherever you watch stuff). Each one will release on a Friday between February and April. Check out their descriptions below:

Known for always saying the unexpected and telling it like it is, even at the expense of offending, Louisiana comedian Theo Von returns home to film his first stand-up comedy special for Netflix at the Civic Theater in New Orleans.

Jimmy Carr Funny Business – Premieres Friday, March 18, 2016

The first British comedian to make an original stand-up special for Netflix, Carr unleashes his distinctive comedy and wickedly funny one-liners to a sold out audience at the UK’s Hammersmith Apollo.

Patton Oswalt: Talking for Clapping – Premieres Friday, April 22, 2016

Unemployable - Hannibal Buress

A long time ago in the year 2014, Comedy Central commissioned a pilot from Hannibal Buress called Unemployable in which the comedian would go through Dirty Jobs-esque situations. Buress recently released the pilot -- the only thing ever shot -- to the series this week. No specifics were given as to why it was shelved but Buress is pretty set already. He just finished the first season of his current Comedy Central show Why? a few months ago. The pilot for Unemployable uses a mix of voice over, standup introductions and documentary elements.

Before others claimed their fame, there was one American family that stood for all that was spoiled, shameless and stupid. Meet the Bellacourts – Newport, RI’s first family of the Gilded Age. They are The Original Ballers. They have tons of money, live in a big-ass mansion and employ a whole team of Fonzworth Bentleys. However, the Bellacourts’ servants have to do a lot more than hold umbrellas.

The original out of touch reality family is coming to Comedy Central in “Another Period,” a turn-of-the-century historical and satirical scripted series that follows the insanely ridiculous and debaucherous life of the Bellacourts, who have more servants than relatives and whose days are filled with money, sex, drugs and more money. “Another Period” centers on the Bellacourt sisters, Lillian (Natasha Leggero) and Beatrice (Riki Lindhome), who only care about being rich and becoming super famous (which is a lot harder in 1902).”
