It's really almost here. Pete Holmes' HBO special is just around the corner and it should be as Pete as everything Pete has ever done. In it, he speaks on the messiness of the English language. But he makes it funnier than I did. He also just names his special in one line at the end. It was so natural. Below is another clip in which Holmes talks about returning to Chicago for his biggest special yet.
HBO has its own comedy line ups
Not one to be outdone by some streaming service, HBO announced its upcoming standup specials. Jerrod Carmichael, Pete Holmes and TJ Miller are all lined up to play on the premium network. Actually, this will mark Carmichael's second special for HBO as his Love At The Store. This new one is coming next fall. Holmes, having released a couple of hours already on Comedy Central, comes to the network with Faces and Sounds which he taped this past April. His show Crashing also premieres next year on HBO. TJ Miller's Meticulously Ridiculous tapes September 16 in Denver as part of his The Meticulously Ridiculous Tour. The Silicon Valley star's special comes out next year as well.
Those aren't the only comedy offerings the network has. Russell Simmons' All Def Comedy tapes on September 7 at Avalon Theatre in Los Angeles. The show is to be hosted by Tony Rock as he takes the audience through sets of up and coming comedians. And finally, Tracy Ullman's Tracy Ullman Show premieres on Friday, October 28. The six episode sketch series features both famous and regular British people in wacky bits. Think Dame Judy Dench and Angela Merkel, both of whom are slated to appear.
