Joe Mande also got himself one of those Netflix specials

Geez, Netflix. You were not kidding around with this "special a week" thing. The big red streamer promised a special a week for 2017 and they are delivering. This week saw the release of Sarah Silverman's A Speck of Dust. And July 25 will have Joe Mande's Award-Winning Comedy Special coming out. The writer and standup comedian announced it on his Twitter today.

Even Ellen DeGeneres is getting a Netflix special, maybe and probably

Everybody and their mother is getting a Netflix special, even comedians whose previous claim to fame was a single half hour on Comedy Central 15 years ago. Netflix has since reached out to Ellen DeGeneres -- the daytime queen -- for her own special. Corresponding over Twitter, the two sources exchanged cagey tweets about a special.

Looks like it's been 15 years since you did a stand-up special, @TheEllenShow. How about one for Netflix?

Nothing is set in stone but, given Netflix's penchant for bringing people back into the standup world, there's a chance it could happen. DeGeneres's last special was in 2003 (Here and Now) with the previous one being in 2001 (The Beginning). Both were for HBO.

Maria Bamford's second Netflix special is more of the wonderful Maria Bamford

Maria Bamford's latest special, Old Baby, is going to be drastically different from her last one. The last one -- The Special Special Special -- was a very intimate performance for the comedian's parents. This one will take place in the streets, stages, a bowling alley, and a bookstore. It's a lot like Chris Rock: Kill The Messenger except a lot more self-depricating. Old Baby will premiere on Netflix on Tuesday, May 2nd.

It's really almost here. Pete Holmes' HBO special is just around the corner and it should be as Pete as everything Pete has ever done. In it, he speaks on the messiness of the English language. But he makes it funnier than I did. He also just names his special in one line at the end. It was so natural. Comedy Central announces fall and 2017 comedy specials

Just because Netflix is giving comedians all the freedom in the world to release their specials doesn't mean Comedy Central is waning in their comedic endeavors. Lewis Black's special is coming next month as well as Pete Davidson's and Kyle Kinane's. Kurt Braunohler, Roy Wood Jr., Joe DeRosa, and Mark Normand all get their time to shine next year. Black's "Black to the Future," premiering Friday, October 7 at 10:00 p.m., is doing a limited run at the Marquis Theatre in New York City. It's politics themed so viewers should expect presidential election type jokes. Kinane's "Loose in Chicago" comes on Friday, October 15 while Davidson's "DMB" debuts on Saturday, October 29.

Braunholer's "Trust Me" is aiming to continue the comedian's efforts to "[insert] absurdity into stranger’s lives to make the world a better place." DeRosa's "You Let Me Down" is shooting at the Masonic Lodge in Los Angeles on Thursday, October 13. Normand's special is being produced by Amy Schumer. Tentatively titled "Don't Be Yourself," it's also shooting this fall. And The Daily Show correspondent Wood is shooting "Father Figure" at Center Stage in Atlanta on Friday, October 14.
