Writing Staff and Details Emerge Ahead of James Corden's 'Late Late' Premiere

James Cordon takes over from the myriad of the Late Late Show's guest hosts on Monday, March 23. Mike Gibbons, Tosh.0 creator, is set to be the head writer and co-executive producer. Other staffers in the writing department include Sean O'Connor (Lucas Bros. Moving Co); Ian Karmel and James Davis (Chelsea Lately; Lauren Greenberg (Love You, Mean It with Whitney Cummings); Nedaa Sweiss; Ben Hoffman; David Dineen-Porter; and DJ Javerbaum (Daily Show, @TheTweetOfGod).

More details have been revealed about the shows' format too.

Corden and executive producer Rob Crabbe have also said they will skip the monologue and get to the guests sooner. In an interview with Variety, Crabbe insisted that [daily news] "wont be his style:"

“Yes, Corden will greet the audience and say something funny — but producers aren’t planning a lineup of 20 jokes in classic late night fashion.”

Still, CBS is having a fit over how long the first act will be. Should the producers have the choice, they would have all of the guests come out as the show opens. Variety notes that it's the same move as BBC's Graham Norton Show. Even guesting has been a chore but luckily Corden has landed the likes of Kerry Washington, Kevin Hart, Will Ferrell and America's Tom Hanks.

The Late Late Show with James Corden officially begins in late late March*.

Jon Stewart is Leaving 'The Daily Show' Later this Year, Fox News Rejoices

The man. The myth. The legend. Those three words more or less describe Jon Stewart and all that he's done for basic cable news. It was announced today that The Daily Show will soon lose its with Jon Stewart later this year.

Comedy Central tweeted a statement earlier tonight about announcing Stewart's departure. They praised the "comedic brilliance" that Stewart displays referring that ability as second to none. There's no word yet on who will take his place mostly because this literally just happened. Perhaps, if this was a few months ago, John Oliver could have taken the job but he's pretty comfy where he is now.

Last Week Tonight Gets High on Pharmaceutical Marketing

Last Week Tonight came back this week last night for a second season! Yay! Host John Oliver started this 35 week stint by talking about the shady nature of pharmaceutical companies and their marketing for doctors. Boo?

These companies buy doctors everything from plane rides to free lunches to probably drugs. Okay, they actually sell them drugs but that's to help people. There is no telling if those drugs will help those that use them though. 

It's Saturday Night Liiiiiiiive with Tonight's Announcer: Darrell Hammond

Stupid headline aside, Deadline reports that SNL has chosen its newest announcer in the vein of ex-cast member Darrell Hammond. 

He holds the record for longest tenure on the show and, at this point, it seems as though no one will be able to beat that. He's going to succeed Don Pardo who passed away in August at age 96. Hammond will begin his announcing at the beginning of the 40th season on September 27 with everyone's idol Chris Pratt and my future wife Ariana Grande. 

Hammond last appeared on SNL as a cast member in 2009 after 14 years. His best impersonations include Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Sean Connery and Al Gore.
