Dope! The "2 Dope Queens" specials start airing on HBO in February

Podcast turned TV specials 2 Dope Queens is coming in early 2018. The show - hosted by Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson - is a televised adaptation of the podcast. Four hourlong specials were ordered back in August. The specials were taped in Brooklyn and directed by Tig Notaro of all people. The first will premiere on Friday, February 2nd at 11:30pm with episodes airing in the following weeks.

Each episode features a special guest like Jon Stewart, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tituss Burgess, and Uzo Aduba. Featured comedians will be Kevin Barnett, Rhea Butcher, Michelle Buteau, John Early, Naomi Ekperigin, Gary Gulman, Al Jackson, Jackie Kashian, Aparna Nancherla, Mark Normand, Baron Vaughn, and Sheng Wang.

2 Dope Queens makes the jump from podcast to TV

Those rascally 2 Dope Queens, Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson, are going to be on your television screens very soon. On the same show. And the same network. Wild, right? HBO said in a press release that it and the Queens are teaming up to bring hour long specials to the channel. Starting next year, at least four are coming.

Both hosts are excited on the news: says, “2 Dope Queens and HBO going half on a TV baby? A dream come true! The work wife and I are beyond thrilled that the formula we’ve perfected over the past four seasons of doing the podcast (Ignorance x Cocoa Butter + Comedic Honesty) is being brought to this network” said Robinson.

Jessica Williams adds, “We are so stoked to be partnering with HBO for these specials. Excited to add a couple more Khaleesis to the network!”

The podcast will still run as these specials will simply be complimentary.

Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson's pretty dope new podcast debuts next week

Joining a landscape that doesn't need anymore new shows, The Daily Show's Jessica Williams and comedian Phoebe Robinson are making a podcast. Premiering next week, 2 Dope Queens The Podcast hails from their Brooklyn live show. Splitsider reports that the show will be in your ears on Tuesday, April 5th.

Williams and Robinson have already started campaigning the show, going so far as to create a Twitter. They try to explain what a podcast is, give some teasers and even get some nice words from their podcast host WNYC. if you haven't heard about the show, 2 Dope Girls follows Williams and Robinson as they share stories of their lives as black women living in New York City. The show is set to feature clips from the live show that's done at Brooklyn's Union Hall.

A.V. Club announces its return to the comedy festival circuit after last years' return to the comedy festival circuit

There's no shortage of comedy festivals around the summer time. About two years ago, news site the A.V. Club and sister site The Onion decided to throw their hat into the annualized ring. This year is no different and now the two will be joined by a major sponsor: truTV. The third iteration of the 26th Annual Comedy Festival will be in full effect starting June 1st and go until June 5th in the city that Kanye West calls home, Chicago. 

Venues include big Chicago staples like the Civic Opera House and Thalia Hall. I'm sure windy city natives are getting so turned on by the mere mention of the theaters. But you're here for the acts. Tracy Morgan, Chris Gethard, Sarah Silverman, Reggie Watts & Karen and a slew of other amazing acts are on tap to perform. A lot of the tickets are on sale while bigger shows go on sale at later dates. Check out the lineup below.

Jessica Williams is not the Daily Show Host You're Looking for says Jessica Williams

When Jon Stewart announced that he is leaving The Daily Show "at some point this year," viewers wildly speculated just who the heck would be taking his spot. It's obviously not John Oliver or Larry Wilmore so eyes naturally turned to the show's correspondents. 

Jessica Williams was the first to take her hat - hair? - out of the ring. She wrote to her followers " I am super not right for it, but there are quite a few people who are!" 

Comedy Central may already have an idea of who is going to replace Stewart. Look forward to having our Senior Youth Correspondent around for a while.
