TV Land ordered a pilot last summer from husband and wife Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone. Today, that pilot is going to series. Titled Nobodies, the show will follow the friends of the famous couple as they see everyone grow into household names while they wallow in mid-fame. Writers Hugh Davidson, Larry Dorf and Rachel Ramras (all writers for the Adult Swim show Mike Tyson’s Mysteries),The Hollywood Reporter says, will star, write, and executive produce the series. MADtv cast member Michael McDonald is also on board to executive produce. The story will have the three try to get one of their famous friends to star in a script they developed. Falcone directed the pilot and will also guest star. Others popping up include Nat Faxon, Jason Bateman, and Maya Rudolph.
'Friends of the People' Renewed, 'Mike Tyson's Mysteries' & Other Adult Swim Shows Too
Four comedy shows have secured their positions for another season.
truTV's debut sketch show Friends of the People has been renewed for a ten episode second season. Variety reports that the network is "continuing to take big swings in new spaces with original series that are innovative, surprising and irresistibly shareable,” said TruTV prexy Chris Linn.
And Adult Swim has renewed a few of their shows as well. The late night Turner station is bringing back Mike Tyson's Mysteries, Black Jesus, and Mr. Pickles for new seasons. Black Jesus ranks No. 1 in its time period among all targeted adult and male demos. Mr. Pickles has averaged almost 1.5 million total viewers in the cable net’s key young adult demo since its premiere.
