Alli Wong is the latest comedian to write an advice book
It's almost a step to the next level when a comedian writes their own book. Even Kevin Hart and Amy Schumer are cashing in on their fame to sell paperbacks. Ali Wong is just the latest standup to feel the itch. But she's taking things on a little more differently. Wong, who recently had a child and did the first (?) ever pregnant stand up special -- Baby Cobra on Netflix -- is writing an advice book to her one year old daughter.
Coming out in 2018 via Random House, EW says the book comes in letter format which will provide common advice on finding true love, failure, and Wong's journey into stand up. Wong says that the book is about her life offstage, adding that she has a lot of stories to tell that won't fit in her regular joke set.
Trevor Noah's book is out very soon
After joining the ranks of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, Trevor Noah is now joining them as well as other comedy greats (like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Phoebe Robinson and others) again with his new book deal. Back in January, the comedian was said to have a book deal which would lead to a real book filled with personal essays. That book is set to come out next month. Born A Crime follows Noah's climb from South Africa to Daily Show host. The title refers to Noah's "original sin" of being born to a white Swiss father and a black Xhosa mother which it was a crime punishable by law. The synopsis points to a fairly exciting book sure to be filled with countless tales of South African fun. Born A Crime is out on November 15.
Lena Dunham is writing another book but it's fiction this time
Lenny Letter creator and Girls girl, Lena Dunham is getting back into books. The writer/producer/actress announced a short story collection that will be all fiction. Lenny Letter recently had an all fiction summer issue and Dunham seemed a little too excited for it. She's so excited, in fact, that she decided to make a book out of fiction. Writing about it on Instagram, Dunham said the latest Letter was a precursor to what she has planned. The book, Best and Always, comes from Random House and should be available in 2017.
