TV shows based on comedians are the in thing and TV Land's The Jim Gaffigan Show is one of the best. The show features a top notch cast (Michael Ian Black and Ashley Williams stand out), a welcome atmosphere and fatty food jokes. One of the other great aspects is Gaffigan himself who goes to great lengths to make his dozen or so kids, friends and wife happy. Not so fun fact: the pilot was simulcast on all of Viacom's networks and new episodes subsequently appeared a few days after on the same network following the TV Land premiere. Anyways, Deadline reports season two will debut with back to back episodes on Sunday, June 19th which Father's Day.
TV Land Decides That Jim Gaffigan Is Funny Enough For Them
That guy who you only know because of that "hot pockets" joke and not one of his many, many other funny things like his books is getting his own show on TV Land.
CBS was the first to get the option to pick up the show (twice piloted I might add) but they decided against it. Deadline reports that the cable network recently ordered 10-episodes of the program created by Gaffigan and Peter Tolan, which is now titled The Gaffigan Show. Another part of the deal is that sister network Comedy Central will air episodes one week after they air. The story derives from Gaffigan's real life.
We will follow a comedian who's live revolves around being a father, stand-up and very hungry. Returning original cast members include Ashley Williams who will play Jim's wife, Adam Goldberg who will be his best friend and Michael Ian Black who will portray his confidant.
The Gaffigan Show is set for a 2015 premiere.
