This week's video of the week goes to the teaser for Will Ferrell and Kirstin Wiig's Lifetime movie, A Deadly Adoption. Once thought a joke, the movie seems real and already has a premiere date for June 20. I won't believe it until I see it. I don't care how real this looks. Until it comes out, this is all a big hoax to me.
Will Ferrell and Kristin Wiig's Lifetime movie is real and airs this month
Hollywood is a place full of lies and sex. Case in point: we have been lied to. Back in April, news broke that Will Ferrell and Kristin Wiig teamed up to make a Lifetime movie about baby adoption. Things were supposed to be top secret but, of course, the news leaked and plans to show the supposed film were dropped. Sure, the movie was "announced" on April 1, a day commonly known for foolery, but it sounded like such a good idea. A Ferrell and Wiig send up of Lifetime movies to be aired on Lifetime? Sign me up.
Now, it is being reported by The Hollywood Reporter that the movie is in fact coming out and airing this month, just in time for the 25 anniversary of Lifetime. The film even has a title, A Deadly Adoption, and has a tagline of "The birth of a plan gone wrong." 90210's Jessica Lowndes apparently stars as a pregnant woman who is cared for by a successful couple (Ferrell and Wiig). The couple hopes to adopt the unborn child but their plans go downhill.
Deadly Adoption is meant to be taken as satire, apparently, with a nod to the genre. Andrew Steele (The Spoils of Babylon) penned the script while Rachel Lee Goldenberg directed. There are conflicting reports as to when the actual air date is. Some outlets are saying Saturday, June 20 while the poster itself says Sunday, June 21. I don't know who to believe anymore.
UPDATED: Corrected initial airing and dates.
