Citing that the world needs continued cynicism during a time of unsure political alliances and Vine "stars," IFC decided to bring back Maron for its fourth season on the one holiday that Star Wars fans have in their lives. The story arc of last season finale's cliffhanger will be continued as Marc Maron, the character, has fallen off the deep end by foregoing his sobriety. He heads to rehab after losing everything including his beloved cats. This season will also see its fair share of celebrity guest stars including Ron Perlman, Amy Smart, Constance Zimmer, Randy and Jason Sklar, Andy Kindler, Whitney Cummings and more. The indie network also notes that there will be back to back episodes that night so you get doubly the amount of sentences ending in "man."
Whitney Cummings gets her own HBO special
Amy Schumer isn't the only woman getting a special on HBO. Now, Whitney Cummings has her own on the at network. In a press release, HBO said that Cummings' I'm Your Girlfriend is set to premiere on Saturday, January 23 at 10 PM. It was taped at The Broad Stage in the great city of Santa Monica. This is part of a deal Cummings and HBO set up earlier this year in April that also includes a pilot from the comedienne.
HBO wants a Whitney Cummings Show Too
HBO is on a hot streak with its slate of comedy shows. First they renew weekly late night talk show Last Week Tonight for two full years. Then, they instantly renew Sunday night hits Veep and Silicon Valley a day after their newest seasons air. Just yesterday, they picked up web series High Maintenance for six episodes. Now, the network is going in for the kill with a show from Whitney Cummings.
HBO ordered a pilot for a half-hour comedy inspired by New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd's 2005 book Are Men Necessary? When Sexes Collide Deadline reports. Cummings is a renaissance lady as she takes on three jobs in creating, writing and starring in the project. It's outlined as "comedic portrait of modern relationships that focuses on human nature and social construction using documentary elements and appearances from experts to help the characters understand the biological basis of their behavior."
Say what you will about Cummings and her current shows but she knows how to hustle. This is her third show in just a few years with those 2 Broke Girls still struggling to make cupcakes after five years on CBS and the canceled NBC show Whitney.
