Larry Wilmore to bring some blackness to the White House Correspondents Dinner

It's about damn time. After years of waiting behind some male white comedians and a one or two female comedians, it's finally time for a black comedian to have his time in the White House. Larry Wilmore has been tapped to host the White House Correspondents Dinner according to Splitsider.

On Saturday, April 30, Wilmore will bring jokes and his trademark "laugh after everything he says" persona to a dinner that will be seen the following day by YouTubers around the globe. The White House Correspondents' Association's own president Carol Lee said on the gig: “We are thrilled that Larry has accepted our invitation to be the featured comedian at our annual dinner, which will be the last during the Obama White House.” Just be sure to tell the audience to cut down on the "Larry! Larry! Larry!"'s.

HBO's Newest Comedy Pilot Comes Courtesy of Larry Wilmore, Awkward Black Girl’s Issa Rae

Years and years ago (way back in 2012 - when we thought the iPhone 5 was the height of technology), the web series The Misadventures Of Awkward Black Girl was in its prime.

Creator and writer of the show Issa Rae, the titular awkward black girl, has partnered with The Nightly Show's Larry Wilmore to produce and write Insecure for HBO. Deadline reports that the show is said to focus "on the awkward experiences and racy tribulations of a modern day African-American woman."

The show was up for auction with HBO back in the yesteryear of 2013. As previously written, Wilmore is kind of busy at the moment but he is still attached to the show.
