'Archer' is coming back with a new set of 1940's clothes
SPoilers for the season seven finale to Archer ahead.
Serializing a cartoon is not a new concept but FX's Archer has been trying its hand at it since it began. Later seasons of the show have been more heavy handed with the style (see last season's move from ISIS to detective agency or the prior season's move to drug running). But last season's finale had its titular character killed so how could it remain the same show? Well apparently that'll be addressed in the show's new setting and time period. The eighth season is set to premiere this spring (date undetermined) in 1947 with Archer, now a real detective (and alive) and friends looking for Woodhouse's killer.
The show is also finally moving over from FX to FXX. FXX was created for the comedies that FX aired but, since its inception, the network has aired mostly action movies and its comedy shows. Check out a trailer for Archer's season eight below.
The 'Always Sunny' season 12 trailer features a rocket launcher
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is one of the more raucous comedy series on television and every year it manages to top itself. With it almost being a new year, that means new Sunny is on its way. FXX provided a trailer that should get any jabroni pumped for the 12th season. It'll debut Wednesday, January 4 at 10 PM.
Archer will get three more (reduced) seasons
Fans of phrasing get ready to sploosh: America’s favorite dick spy turned private dick is coming back for three more seasons. The FX -- now, FXX -- series Archer has been renewed for seasons 8, 9, and 10. The caveat here is that each season will only be eight episodes long, down from past seasons’ ten. It’s almost hard to believe that once season ten hits, there will have been a decade of this show about idiot spies. Pretty cool, right? There have already been two in-universe reboots for the characters’ job classification so who knows what the next three seasons hold. Season 8 will premiere in early 2017.
Jordan Peele and Tracy Morgan bring the FX show back on track
It's happening. It's finally happening. Tracy Morgan's FX series is heading into production and he's got a great writer on board: Jordan Peele. Both he and John Carcieri (Eastbound and Down, Vice Principals) have signed on to write the pilot. Following the horrible bus accident almost two years ago, Tracy has slowly but surely made his way back into the limelight.
Variety reports the new show will follow Morgan as a criminal who's trying to adjust to society following a 15 year prison sentence. President of original programming for FX Networks and FX Prods. Nick Grad says the network is ecstatic that Tracy will be joined by Peele, and executive producers Eric Tannenbaum and Joel Zada: “What an unbeatable combination – Tracy Morgan and Jordan Peele – two exceptional comics joining forces with a great team of writers and producers to create and produce this pilot for FX Networks.”
