Fans of podcasts and Chris Gethard rejoice as the host's new show, Beautiful Stories From Anonymous People, slides into your podcast player of choice next week. Hailing from Earwolf, the podcast will have Gethard talking to one anonymous caller and under no circumstances can he hang up. It's an interesting premise that could have the host talking to a delightful fan or all around unpleasant person. The Earwolf description describes the podcast as "no holds barred" so, really, anything can go. Check out a clip of the show below.
Jemaine Clement's Howl Podcast is finally premiering next month
If you fell for Midroll's newest premium podcast subscription service Howl, touted as the "Netflix for podcasts," then you'd be one of several people disappointed not only with the launch but the following months of execution. It's been what seems like a year since Howl started and, yet, there aren't many of the promised exclusives or ad-free shows. One of the most anticipated series comes from Flight of the Concords star/bandmate Jemaine Clement and it's called The Mysterious Secrets of Uncle Bertie’s Botanarium. The pre-written series follows Clements' Lord Joseph Banks, a botanist who travels on the seas towards New Zealand in the early 1700s. The crew encounters plant-worshipers, cannibalistic sausages and even treacherous butterflies on their journey. The series is written by Duncan Sarkies, James Milne, and Stephen Templer.
IFC would like some more 'Comedy Bang! Bang!' please
In the midst of this current 40 episode fourth season of the show, IFC sat down and decided that it was time to offer up a renewal for Comedy Bang! Bang! to which Scott Aukerman probably replied "This makes my little butt wet!"
IFC president Jennifer Caserta also had nice things to say about the show and its host: “Scott has created an absurd world that attracts the biggest names in pop culture,” she said, “They show up, do insane things and oftentimes come back for more. We have no idea how he does it, but we’re not about to start asking questions now.”
Kid CuDi is set to replace Reggie Watts as band leader this July. A 20 episode fifth season will come next year. Maybe then Aukerman can find a way to implement a television version of the podcast's game "Riddle Me This."
Marissa Wompler to 'Womp It Up' in her own Podcast
This April Fool's day has been one to remember. First, Paul F. Tompkins's newest podcast, Spontaneanation was finally released and now Earwolf announced that Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair will be heading up a new podcast called Womp It Up. News comes via Splitisder and I'm still unsure if I should take it seriously. Listeners of Comedy Bang! Bang! should know the title hails from the character of Marissa Wompler (St. Clair), an intern at CB!B! She'll be joined by her teacher Miss Listler (Parham) who will provide love advice and music. The podcast is set to debut on April 20 with a "school project" theme.
Paul Scheer Launches 'Wolfpop' Network for All of Your Pop Culture Podcast Needs
I love pop culture. And you know you do too. As much as you pretend not to be into who's sleeping with who, what movies are good, or what show has got people hooked you know you want to be a part of the fold.
How Did This Get Made host Paul Scheer feels your pain. That's why he created the podcasting network Wolfpop. Under its sister channel Earwolf, Wolfpop will include podcasts that focus on the media of today. Wolfpop launched this past Wednesday with podcasts featuring the likes of W. Kamau Bell, Leonard Maltin, Sarah Thyre, Nate Corddry, and more. The emphasis will be on "presenting world-class and rising talent, providing them with an unfiltered platform to share their passions and stories with humor and depth." Now's my chance to finally get the podcast I've always wanted. I'm a comin' Scheer!
Splitsider has an incredible interview with Scheer discussing Wolfpop and The Sylvester Stallone Show.
