God dammit, Comedy Central. It's getting really hard to love you. Or is this Viacom's bag? Whatever the case, this decision should not go over lightly. The network announced today via press release that it's giving Jordan Klepper the coveted 11:30 PM slot following The Daily Show. Klepper is likable ad all but there are so many other voices out there, guys. So many.
Klepper's show is said to be a spin off of sorts (think Colbert Show). Network president Kent Alterman said the host's talent earned him this opportunity: "...it would take a real fool to not offer him this opportunity,” said Alterman.
Klepper has proved himself since his 2014 start with his studio and field segments that exemplify his persona. His new show aims to "embrace and define the chaos of our country by channeling Klepper’s steadfast attitude that institutions are to be trusted less than the lies of the mainstream media." So he's essentially doing what every other late night show is doing. Or, rather, what The Colbert Show did except this time there'll be correspondents.
Yesterday, Comedy Central announced a new show called The President Show that will take the 11:30 PM slot on Thursdays. Who knows what's going to happen after it's limited run time. Klepper's show is set to start airing this fall.
