This morning, nominations for the 2014 Emmys were announced by Mindy Kaling and Carson Daly who seems to still be around. This years contenders have stiff competition due to a fascinating year in television. Everything from True Detective to The Spoils of Babylon and even CBS' Mom fight for recognition.
HBO lead the pack with 99 noms with Game of Thrones having 19. The HBO AIDS movie The Normal Heart starring Mark Ruffalo has 16 including best TV movie.
Netflix received many nods as well with 31 which include House of Cards garnering 13 and Orange Is The New Black getting 12.
AMC's Breaking Bad gathered an amazing 16 nominations following its end last year including a best actor nod for leading man Bryan Cranston.

Nominees for best actress in a drama series are Lizzy Caplan being all sexy in Masters of Sex; Claire Danes crying or something in Homeland; Michelle Dockery being all British in Downton Abbey; Julianne Margulies being bad in The Good Wife; Kerry Washington in the blackudrama Scandal; and Robin Wright [SPOILER] in House of Cards.
Best actor nominations can go anywhere this year. Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey have to battle it out because they did so well on True Detective. They'll face Cranston, Spacey, Jeff Daniels from The Newsroom and Jon Hamm for Mad Men.
The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards will be hosted by Seth Meyers and will air August 25 on NBC. Oddly enough, this years show will be on a Monday because of Sunday Night Football and the MTV Video Music Awards which I'm sure will get waaaayyyy higher ratings.
