Billy Eichner gets his own Netflix comedy special

In a world where everyone is getting a comedy special, some may wonder why other (better) comics might not have a special. One of those comics is finally getting his own thanks to today's leading comedy special incubator, Netflix. 

The Hollywood Reporter says that Billy Eichner (Difficult People) will be making his debut on the service.

Much like Eichner's "talk show" Billy On The Street the special will stand out from the crowd. The special will cater to a more variety set as opposed to the standard joke/punchline style: “a unique blend of comedy and music that will cover politics, pop culture and may also include some brand-new editions of his signature, Emmy-nominated Billy on the Street segments.”

Dope! The "2 Dope Queens" specials start airing on HBO in February

Podcast turned TV specials 2 Dope Queens is coming in early 2018. The show - hosted by Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson - is a televised adaptation of the podcast. Four hourlong specials were ordered back in August. The specials were taped in Brooklyn and directed by Tig Notaro of all people. The first will premiere on Friday, February 2nd at 11:30pm with episodes airing in the following weeks.

Each episode features a special guest like Jon Stewart, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tituss Burgess, and Uzo Aduba. Featured comedians will be Kevin Barnett, Rhea Butcher, Michelle Buteau, John Early, Naomi Ekperigin, Gary Gulman, Al Jackson, Jackie Kashian, Aparna Nancherla, Mark Normand, Baron Vaughn, and Sheng Wang.

Ed Helms will report "The Fake News" for Comedy Central

Comedy Central is turning into CNN more and more each day with the network giving every comedian alive their own politically based talk show. Ed Helms joins the ranks, although his is less a show and more of a special.

The Fake News with Ted Nelms is a new hour long special in which the host will perform satirical news.The comedian was a correspondent on Jon Stewart's Daily Show for years.

Helms is excited to return to the network: “So thrilled to be returning to Comedy Central after all these years for my new special The Fake News with Ted Nelms. Obviously there are lot of news organizations out there just making up a bunch of crap and calling it news. But unlike those others, we’re doing it better, faker, and stupider. And we’re joking.”

In a press release, Comedy Central said the special will feature news that's made up but closely resembles the real thing. Executive producers include Helms, Mike Falbo and Nelson Walters. Elliott Kalan will serve as head writer and co-executive producer.

The Fake News with Ted Nelms will air on Comedy Central on Wednesday, December 13 at 10:00 p.m.

Comedy Central wants you to celebrate Christmas with three of its shows

This Christmas, there's going to be a deluge of shows you're probably going to want to catch up on. All of the fall shows on broadcast and cable plus whatever is streaming will be at your finger tips during the one time of the year you have free time. Along with the new stuff to watch, you're most likely going to want to keep to tradition by watching the old Christmas specials of years past. Comedy Central seeks to complicate your free time with new specials from old favorites.

The Daily Show, The President Show and Drunk History will all get brand new holiday specials. Drunk History Christmas Special will air on Tuesday, November 28 at 10:00 p.m. See a description below.

“In the Drunk History Christmas Special, creators Derek Waters and Jeremy Konner bring to life such iconic holiday scenes as George Washington crossing the Delaware River on Christmas Day, a look at the Charles Dickens Christmas classic A Christmas Carol and Teddy Roosevelt’s ban on Christmas trees in the White House. Reenactors include Rob Corddry, Colin Hanks, Ken Marino and Chris Witaske with narrations from Craig Anstett, Rich Fulcher and Phil Hendrie.”

CBS is throwing a 50th celebration for Carol Burnett

Carol Burnett's life has been filled with hilarity and all of it will be recaptured in a special for CBS. The network is putting on a two hour extravaganza simply titled The Carol Burnett 50th Anniversary Special, Deadline reports.

The two hour celebration is airing from the original Carol Burnett Show soundstage at CBS Television City. Burnett is said to be looking back at her favorite sketches, participating in Q&A, looking at bloopers, and much more.

A large selection of people will appear including Vicki Lawrence, Lyle Waggoner, costume designer Bob Mackie, Jim Carrey, Stephen Colbert, Bernadette Peters, Maya Rudolph, Kristin Chenoweth, Bill Hader, Harry Connick Jr., Jay Leno, Jane Lynch, and Martin Short.

The Carol Burnett 50th Anniversary Special will air on Sunday, December 3rd at 8:00 PM.
